Like It Or Not, You Were Made To Have Goals
People sometimes talk themselves into believing a goal-free life sounds relaxing — no pressure, no striving, just drifting wherever the day takes them. In practice, that's rarely what it feels like once someone actually tries it for a while.
Without something to aim at, days start blurring together, motivation quietly disappears, and a low, persistent restlessness sets in that people often mistake for something else entirely — boredom, depression, dissatisfaction with their circumstances. Frequently, it's simpler than that. It's the absence of anything being worked toward.
This isn't a personality quirk some people have and others don't. It shows up across almost everyone, because working toward something is closer to a basic requirement than a preference. A goal doesn't need to be enormous. It needs to exist, clearly enough that today's actions have a reason behind them beyond just getting through the day.
If something's felt flat or aimless lately, the fix is rarely more rest or fewer obligations. It's usually one clear thing to actually aim at, even something small, restarting the part of you that was built to move toward something rather than just exist without direction.
